Natural Remedies For A Dry Cough

What to do for a dry cough

natural remedies for a dry coughThere are a number of traditional natural remedies for a dry cough. Don't expect these natural remedies to cure your cough. But at least they'll help reduce the amount of coughing, and may help sooth your throat and reduce the intensity of the tickle that triggers a cough.

Popular natural remedies for a dry cough include

  • aloe vera juice
  • apple cider vinegar
  • a combination of white vinegar and water. 1 or 2 teaspoons of vinegar in a glass of water will be sufficient.
  • one cup of honey mixed with 3-4 tablespoons of vinegar

Tea as a dry cough remedy Many kinds of tea can be helpful, especially comfrey. Be careful with comfrey however because over the long term it may damage your liver.

Tea made from wild cherry bark, slippery elm or red clover is also good.

Other natural remedies for a dry cough Garlic has been a traditional cough and cold reliever for many years. Mince a clove in a small bowl, add honey and cover the bowl with plastic wrap. Leave this mixture in your refrigerator overnight, then take a tablespoon when you get up. Repeat throughout the day, as needed.

Dissolve tablespoon of honey in a glass of boiling water and drink it slowly. This soothes the throat.

Licorice root is another one of the traditional remedies for a dry cough. 5 grams of powdered licorice root mixed with honey several times during the day. This one, however, is not a good choice for people with high blood pressure.

Zinc lozenges and Horehound lozenges may be helpful.
